Visiting a new church for the first time can be anxiety-inducing to say the least, especially if you have had a poor experience in a parish before.  The nice part about a young parish is that everyone is new and eager to feel connected and feel comfortable in their spiritual home.  To make it a little easier, we have provided a little Q & A below.  Feel free to call the church office if you still have questions and we will follow up right away!

Where do I park? 
There is street parking in front of the church, within the neighborhood, and across the street in the parking lot.  In the spirit of hospitality of inclusion and welcome, we ask our parishioners to save the closest parking spaces for those needing accessibility, those with young children, and first-time visitors.

What is the Mass like? 
The Mass follows the Catholic sacramental tradition, offered in an affirming and inclusive environment.

Our 9:00 a.m. Sunday Mass is our meditative Mass and lasts approximately 30 to 40 minutes. There is no music, but the liturgy is chanted in parts by the celebrant.  This is the Mass to attend if you appreciate a quiet and meditative environment.  

Our 10:30 a.m. Sunday Mass is our family Mass with hymns, choir, children's homily, and instrumentalists throughout the year and lasts approximately 60 minutes.  This is the Mass to attend if you enjoy music and don't mind the wiggles and giggles of our little ones.

Are you Roman Catholic?
Good Shepherd worships in the Catholic sacramental tradition and is served by clergy of the Cor Jesu Society. We are an independent Catholic parish and are not affiliated with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Kansas City–St. Joseph. Our worship is rooted in Scripture, Sacrament, prayer, and the inclusive love of Christ.

Come as you are. Some people dress casually, others dress more formally. What matters most is that you feel welcome.
