The Cor Jesu Society is a Catholic priestly community whose life and ministry are shaped by
three primary charisms: a dedication to reverent, traditional Catholic liturgy; a sustained
commitment to the study of Scripture and ongoing theological and spiritual formation; and a
vowed orientation toward a life of service to the Gospel in daily pastoral ministry. These
charisms guide both the spiritual identity of the clergy who belong to the Society and the
pastoral character of the worshiping community that has grown around their ministry.
The clergy of the Cor Jesu Society understand the celebration of the liturgy as the heart of their
priestly identity. The community’s worship life is marked by reverence, beauty, sacramental
depth, and attention to the prayerful rhythm of the Church’s tradition. The liturgy is
approached not only as ritual action but as a formative and contemplative encounter with the
mystery of Christ, shaping both the inner life of the priest and the spiritual experience of the
faithful. This commitment to traditional Catholic worship is expressed with pastoral warmth
and accessibility, fostering an environment where prayer, silence, music, and proclamation
work together toward spiritual attentiveness and devotion.

Alongside its liturgical life, the Society places strong emphasis on the disciplined study of
Scripture and continuing formation. Clergy associated with the Society are committed to
theological reflection, biblical study, spiritual reading, and ongoing intellectual development as
essential dimensions of priestly stewardship. Formation is understood as lifelong — an ongoing
deepening of insight, humility, pastoral wisdom, and fidelity to the Church’s tradition. This
posture of study serves not only personal growth, but the quality of preaching, pastoral
conversation, and spiritual direction within the community.

The third defining charism of the Cor Jesu Society is a life of service to the Gospel. The clergy of
the Society seek to carry out their ministry in a spirit of pastoral availability, compassionate
presence, and integrity of vocation. Their service extends across parish-style worship settings,
pastoral care, spiritual direction, and ministry among the sick, homebound, and dying. Many
priests of the Society also serve in chaplaincy and healthcare contexts, where the Gospel is lived
through accompaniment, prayer, and the quiet steadiness of presence at pivotal moments in
human life. This outward pastoral posture flows directly from the Society’s interior
commitments to prayer, formation, and sacramental life.

The community that gathers around the Cor Jesu Society reflects a range of faith journeys.
Some parishioners come after periods of distance from regular worship; others are practicing
Catholics who are drawn to the Society’s liturgical style, preaching, and sense of spiritual
seriousness. Many are simply nourished by the beauty of the liturgy and the stability of the
community’s prayer life. Participation is therefore not limited to those who have experienced
marginalization; a significant number belong because the Society’s worship, theology, and
pastoral tone resonate with their spiritual identity.

The Society’s relationships with other Catholic clergy and communities are approached with
